Hadiqa Kiani is back with the fourth chapter from the transcendental Wajd and she is still in great form. The first song from the album, ‘Kamlee Da Dhola’ was sung in Saraiki; the second release came in the form of the number ‘Bhit Ja Bhitai’ and was sung in Sindhi while the third released single, ‘Aaj Rung Hai’ was sung in Braj Bhasha language and originally written by Hazrat Amir Khusro.

Keeping up this tradition of embracing ethnic diversity of this region in all its glory, Kiani’s fourth release from Wajd is therefore, the Punjab chapter. The song is called ‘Kamli – (Bulleh Shah)’ and is meant to pay tribute to Sufi saint, Bulleh Shah. With lyrics by Shah, the song features Steive George on the Saz Baglama, Baqir Abbas on the flute, Asif Ali Goga on the Qawaali Jori, Irfan Kiani and Imran Ali on the harmonium while music production has been handled by the terrific Irfan Kiani.

“I have always been drawn to Baba Bulleh Shah’s poetry and Kamli – (Bulleh Shah) is a tribute to his poetry and work,” said Hadiqa in a press statement.

Speaking about the story behind the song, producer of the project, Irfan Kiani explained, “Kamli – (Bulleh Shah) marks the continuation of the Wajd journey and we feel strongly associated with it as we all visited the shrine of Baba Bulleh Shah and also performed (live) there for the followers. It is an effort to capture the true essence and spirit of the message spread by Baba Bulleh Shah.”

The song has been released exclusively on Patari and is a wonderful concoction of traditional and contemporary ethos. Hear it now.
