In the 6 January edition of Us, ‘Miniature’s magnificence’ by Tooba Ghani was a great read. I had this idea that painting was no big deal; all it took was a brush, some paints and a canvas.

Dear Ed,

In the 6 January edition of Us, ‘Miniature’s magnificence’ by Tooba Ghani was a great read. I had this idea that painting was no big deal; all it took was a brush, some paints and a canvas. I had no idea it could be so adventurous! Thanks for the write up, Tooba.

‘Advice to younger self’ by Muhammad Omar Iftikhar had just one piece of advice: to not fall in love. It was more like a looking back thing than advice. It was still an interesting read, but somewhat ineptly titled. ‘Hot tag’ by Zara Niazi Syed about relationships was thought provoking indeed. I do concur with the writer that nowadays relationships flaunted on Facebook are mostly fickle, and the real thing does not need a glamorous status.

In the issue of 13 January, ‘Confessions of a sub-editor’ by Tooba Ghani was simply hilarious! I particularly enjoyed the section ‘Ads and pictures: my best friends’ because I realized that advertisements that we as readers abhor are cherished by lazy, indolent subs who rather waste precious space to ads instead of utilizing it by giving us a nice story to read. Just kidding, but seriously ads are not welcome in Us!

Hello Ed,

I enjoyed reading ‘My teenage years’. We are always curious to know how celebrities spend their life when they are not in front of the cameras. It’s fun to know what they loved to eat or which book or movie fascinated them the most in their teenage.

Please, Ed, publish this section frequently!

Dear Editor,

Thank you for publishing Ahsan Khan’s interview in which he shared his teenage memories. It was an amazing interview and I  really liked it. Learning things about our favourite celebrities through Us is something I really enjoy a lot. Also, the questions were amazing, as they covered almost everything we want to know about our favourite celebrities.

The mag is doing an awesome job; keep it up! I really like your magazine, and wait for it every Friday. Stay Blessed.

Us is ‘your’ mag and we always welcome the feedback from our valued readers! :)

Opinion

Hi Ed,

I think people shouldn’t jump to conclusions and say that the movie Urban Myths is a ‘disappointment’ just because a ‘white’ guy is playing the role of Michael Jackson. I guess it’s the narrative and message that counts and not the appearance. If Joseph Feinness does justice to Michael’s true character, the movie can do well.

Editor’s note

Dear all,

We would like to hold another competition to keep your creative juices churning. This time, it’s the turn of our talented poets out there. We will be accepting poems till February 28. There is only one rule: each poet can submit only one poem!

Readers, we have been receiving letters lately that are about municipal issues. We are not the right platform for such letters and they should be sent to the op-ed pages of newspapers. The email address for The News is: news.post@thenews.com.pk.

Narrated

by Abdullah (R.A)

When the verse: It is those who believe and do not confuse their belief with wrong ( i.e. joining others in worship with Allah (6.83) was revealed, we said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W)! Who is there amongst us who has not done wrong to himself?’ He replied, “It is not as you say, for “wrong” in the verse and do not confuse their belief, with wrong means shirk (i.e. joining others in worship with Allah). Haven’t you heard Luqman’s saying to his son, “O my son! Join not others in worship with Allah, verily joining others in worship with Allah is a great wrong indeed.” (31.13)
