Dear Ed,
To the Editor,
Rehan Hamid’s article ‘Lane discipline on roads’ (13 June issue) is a timely and insightful piece that highlights a serious issue plaguing our urban life. The writer has aptly identified the root causes of traffic chaos - governmental neglect, lack of enforcement, and, most crucially, the general public’s indifference toward traffic rules.
It is high time we treated lane discipline not as a suggestion but as a civic responsibility. I strongly agree that this behaviour must be taught, starting at the school level. By inculcating civic sense and road ethics early on, we can shape a generation of responsible citizens and safer drivers. Practical lessons on traffic rules and awareness campaigns in educational institutions would go a long way in building this foundation. This article is not just a criticism; it is a wake-up call. I hope the relevant authorities take notice and our schools take initiative.

Hello Editor,
I loved the issue of 27 June and would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the amazing contributions featured in this issue of Us magazine. I always love poems featured in ‘Poets’ Corner’ and really liked Rumaissa Chouhan’s ‘Closed eyes’ and Nazish Sabir’s ‘Bleak reality’. These poems are poignant and thought-provoking and made me reflect on the anguish so many people have to endure. I love Amna Ameer’s poems but her articles are great, too. ‘The etiquette of eating’ was quite profound. It began as a simple lesson in table manners and unfolded into a deeply moving reflection on mindfulness, contentment, and gratitude. Her beautifully woven narrative highlights how everyday teachings from our elders shape us into more grounded and compassionate individuals.
Similarly, Hissam Ali’s article ‘The rise and fall of paper’ was a great read. The significance of paper was brought out beautifully while addressing the realities of digital transformation. What a great balance between nostalgia and progress!
All in all, it was a great issue and I enjoyed it thoroughly!
