POETS’ CORNER

Poems forever

SOUND AND SENSE

By Alexander Pope

True ease in writing comes from art, not chance,

As those move easiest who have learned to dance.

'Tis not enough no harshness gives offense,

The sound must seem an echo to the sense:

Soft is the strain when Zephyr gently blows,

And the smooth stream in smoother

numbers flows;

But when loud surges lash the sounding shore,

The hoarse, rough verse should like the

torrent roar;

When Ajax strives some rock's vast weight to throw,

The line too labors, and the words move slow;

Not so, when swift Camilla scours the plain,

Flies o'er the unbending corn, and skims

along the main.

Hear how Timotheus' varied lays surprise,

And bid alternate passions fall and rise!

A happy soul

By Esha Bakht

A broken soul I was.

Till wind whispered in my ear.

You can see the signs of the presence of the Lord.

Through storm, waves and, to be precise, everywhere.

Then the tide came from the sea.

And asked me to submit a plea.

To Lord for all his blessings.

And then my mind became less stressed.

A happy soul I became.

Epiphany of the heart

By Syeda Maqsoom

In the quiet tapestry of mundane days,

You emerged like dawn after a long night’s haze,

A gentle whisper through ordinary seams,

Suddenly, you entered, igniting my dreams.

You walked with shadows, holding secrets untold,

A heart in disguise, wrapped in tender gold,

Hidden feelings danced beneath your calm facade,

Yet I could not fathom the love you had trod.

I fell like the leaves that surrender in fall,

Unknowing, unguarded, ensnared by your call,

Your laugh became sunlight that kissed winter’s chill,

The world spun a canvas — we’d paint it at will.

With every shared glance, with every soft sigh,

The stars danced above, in a sweet lullaby,

I spoke of my feelings, unveiled my heart’s hue,

But blissfully blinded, knew not you felt too.

Then came that moment, so fleetingly bright,

When you paused in the glow of the soft, tender light,

You took my hand gently, your warmth filled the air,

When you whispered those words, both simple and rare.

“Let it be,” you said, as the cosmos aligned,

Two souls intertwined in the beauty defined,

“Fall in love,” you beckoned, your eyes met mine’s gaze,

An echo of truth, igniting a blaze.

I fell in love deeper than oceans could know,

With whispers of trust, where the wild rivers flow,

You too, my beloved, your heart open wide,

Together we blossomed, the world as our guide.

This was amazing, this tapestry spun,

Of laughter and kindness, two hearts now as one,

In the garden of hopes, where dreams used to roam,

Together we forged an eternal sweet home.

Through mountains and valleys, through whispers of night,

In every horizon, our spirits take flight,

This is so beautiful, this dance we now share,

To love and be loved, a promise laid bare.

In the epic of life, as the pages unfold,

Each chapter embraces our love’s tale retold,

For suddenly you came, like a star in the skies,

And with it, you brought all the wonder of lives.

A love, like a river, forever will flow,

With every heartbeat, the depths will still grow,

So here’s to the journey of hearts woven tight,

In the fabric of time, we stand hand in hand, bright.

Let us treasure this moment, let the echoes resound,

For the magic of love is a treasure profound,

Together through ages, let our spirits unite,

In the epic of love, you are my guiding light.

As seasons will change and as time marches on,

Our love will endure, like the promise of dawn,

So suddenly you came, and it felt so divine,

A symphony written, your heart intertwined with mine.
