One of the recent projects helmed by SOC Films, the Home 1947 series features a total of seven short films. With five films released in the last couple of months, the sixth (and the second last) narrative from the series recently came out.

Titled Weaving Memories, it is “a recitation of a poem that evokes memories of the simple joys that give meaning to life; for instance, playing hopscotch with a friend,” according to the presser.

However, as times changed, everything becomes nothing more than a distant memory, reiterating the fact that life is unpredictable.

The newest release is now available on YouTube for viewing.

As reported earlier, Home 1947 is a very personal account of lives and stories of millions of people who were displaced during the creation of two new, independent states – Pakistan and India – in 1947.

Conceptualized and produced by SOC Films, chaired by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the series aims to recreate long-lost sights and sounds of what was home to millions of people. Instead of highlighting it through the words of historians and politicians, Home 1947 tells it through the eyes of those who suffered through it.

The series was first launched as part of the Home 1947 Exhibition at the Manchester International Festival in the UK, followed by exhibitions in Mumbai, Lahore and Karachi.
