Not only is the Critics’ Choice Awards one of the most prestigious events on the awards calendar, but the event prompts some of Hollywood’s biggest names opting for classic elegant gowns of old-Hollywood and the trendy jumpsuits of today. Instep digs deeper into the night’s best outfits and beauty moments.

Jennifer Lopez in Georges Hobeika

Yet again, Jennifer Lopez has stolen the spotlight. Though not as high-drama as her Golden Globe look, her gorgeous champagne-toned Georges Hobeika gown highlighted the singer’s timeless inability to age. Hobeika’s dress created a sense of sophistication, with its form-fit, nude coloring and sheer back; yet also extravagance, with rhinestones embellished along the front bodice, cinched waist and high neckline. Jenny’s sleek-sparkly look was accessorized with a pair of Harry Winston earrings and a matching bedazzled bracelet and clutch. The gown’s subtle trail hid Lopez’s priceless Casadei heels and her loosely curled, half-back hairstyle made us reminiscent of old-Hollywood glamour. Jennifer’s pink lip, soft eyes, and popping highlight gave her the perfect finish and ensured all eyes were on her as per usual.

Kate Beckinsale in Julien MacDonald

The Underworld star never ceases to amaze us with her red carpet fashion. Beckinsale was dazzling in an off-the-shoulder Julien MacDonald frock. Her shimmery, semi-sheer gown featured a large bow gathered dramatically on the side and a billowing silk train that added a touch of elegance to the lavish ensemble. A pair of silver Jimmy Choo heels were concealed by the glittering skirt of her pale-pink gown. The mauve-toned eyes were bold but a soft pink cheek and lip helped create the delicate face that Beckinsale is adored for. Beckinsale was adorned with jewels by Kallah, Yvan Tufenkjian and Djula; the glistening shine of her waterfall earrings almost distracting from the silky brunette curls cascading down her back. Kate’s graceful yet luxurious look can’t be pulled off by many, but she woos again with her modish demeanor and natural beauty.

Mandy Moore in Elie Saab

Sometimes, Hollywood’s royalty choose to leave their bejeweled gowns at home and opt for something a little more casual; Mandy Moore’s Elie Saab jumpsuit proves she did just that. The This is Us star donned a chic black jumpsuit with a plunging neckline that was made complete by a dazzling gold chain detail at the waist. The matching cape hung over the strapless jumpsuit tied the black-tie look together perfectly. Cristina Ehrlich, Mandy’s stylist, proved that sometimes less really is more. Mandy stole the carpet with the simple sophistication of her classic Loubitons and the sparkling Anita Ko jewelry adorned on her neck, ears, and fingers. Her effortlessly elegant updo, rosy lip, and a light touch of eyeliner came together to produce the perfect natural look.

If there’s anything to take away from these stars, it’s that natural, subtle looks are completely underrated.

Kristen Bell in Cong Tri

The neon green trend has been brought back, and we are all for it. The Good Place star had all heads turning while she flaunted her stunning green florescent satin jumpsuit at the awards ceremony. The suit’s high neck and tailored legs created a combination of comfort and sophistication that formed the perfect ensemble. The brilliant color made Bell stand out in a crowd of thousands, but the silky cape billowing behind her in every photo created the real drama.

Not only was Bell a winner that night in the awards, but her glistening Forevermark diamond earrings paired with a nude lip and glowing skin ensured her being one of the chicest stars of the night. Her slick, side parted bob gave the perfect finish to this unique and trendy red carpet look.

Florence Pugh in Prada

Vogue’s February cover girl yet again solidifies her deserving title. Pugh and her trusty stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray continued the actress’s winning style streak with a bejeweled Prada dress that dazzled with its silver sequins and paillettes. Not only did the dress gleam from miles away, but Pugh opted to further her shimmering physique with accessories: strappy pointed pumps, Messika dangly crystal earrings, and a Maria Tash pear-shaped ear stud. The British beauty complemented her dress with an upswept hairdo, metallic eyes and glossy lips to for the perfect night look.
