Pakistani-American actor Faran Tahir recently had a successful run of his theatre play - Bhai Bhai - which marked his return to stage in Pakistan after several years. The actor, however, has secured a strong spot in Hollywood with multiple remarkable performances in films such as Iron Man, Elysium, Star Trek and Charlie Wilson’s War and TV shows like Monk, Alias, The Practice, NYPD Blue, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and Supernatural.

He also has some stage performances to his credit including one in Othello and another as in the titular role, Richard III in July last year. He essayed the role of Richard III in Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s free Shakespeare on the Common performances last summer. The actor has clearly won hearts with this as he earlier bagged a nomination for ‘Actor Play’ at IRNE Awards for his performance. Just recently he has been nominated in the category of ‘Outstanding Actor, Large Theatre’ at the Elliot Norton Awards 2019.

The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company announced the nominations on their social media, stating, “We’re proud of our 5 Elliot Norton Awards nominations…Thank you to our talented artists, dedicated staff and board, and all those who come out to support our productions.”

The Elliot Norton Awards are presented annually to recognize achievement in the Greater Boston theatre community. The ceremony this year will be the 37th edition of the awards with Faye Dunaway as the Guest of Honour. It is expected to take place on Monday, May 20 at the Huntington Avenue Theatre, Boston. Here’s hoping Faran Tahir bags the trophy.
