The Pakistani-American comedian, actor, writer and host, Kumail Nanjiani, who received an Oscar nomination for scripting The Big Sick, is all set to star as the lead in Any Person, Living or Dead, the film adaptation of Simon Rich’s short story that was picked up by Legendary Entertainment. While Simon Rich will adapt the script, Jonathan Krisel will be directing the film.

The story of Any Person, Living or Dead follows a brilliant reclusive scientist who, using his homemade time machine, gathers a roundtable of the greatest minds in history (Shakespeare, George Washington, Aristotle, etc.) to solve all of humanity’s problems. Unfortunately, his plan fails to take into account language barriers, ancient racism and the tendency of medieval men to commit murder. Instead of learning from these Great Men of History, our hero has no choice but to hunt them down and blast them to the past before they can ruin our future.

Recent reports also suggest that Nanjiani is all set to make his Marvel debut alongside Angelina Jolie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is currently in talks with Marvel Studios to star in their next film, The Eternals. Directed by Chloe Zhao, the film will be based on the 1976 Marvel comic book series written by Jack Kirby.

Nanjiani will next be seen in Men in Black: International, which comes out June 14 and also stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, followed by Fox comedy Stuber, which is scheduled to release in July 2019.

Having wrapped up Paramount’s Lovebirds, as executive producer, he will, in addition, be seen in CBS All-Access Twilight Zone and is also returning to HBO series Silicon Valley. With so many upcoming projects, Kumail Nanjiani is going to have a busy year ahead. And that’s a very good thing.
