In today’s time, it has become easier than ever before to spread awareness on any given issue, considering the power of social media and various other mediums. Television is one of them. Recent times have seen a surge of socially relevant plays as well as commercials that aim to educate viewers on a lot of prevalent issues that are contaminating our society. A recent addition in the list is an initiative called ‘Choona Mana Hay’ that promotes raising voice against child abuse.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui recently took to social media and shared about this effort of a group of citizens, called ‘Kasur Hamara Hai’, who have come together to spread the word.

He posted: “Children are the last link to/of humanity. Child abuse is a menace that is unfortunately spreading rapidly and is a global problem that needs to be tackled. My heart shudders as I write this post. Child abuse is not only restricted to homes now but has found its way into the education system as well. It’s also not gender specific. There are small girls and boys who are being subjected to abuse of various kinds like physical, emotional and sexual abuse. The kids of today are the future of tomorrow. Imagine we’re walking towards a future where the children are not safe.”

He shared two TV commercials that have been made by the group. The videos highlight that we often witness situations where a child is being abused but we don’t realize it.

“There’s a pressing need to not only educate the kids regarding abuse but also educate adults. There’s a difference between a good touch and a bad touch – learn to differentiate!” Adnan concluded.
