After releasing three excellent album, Sampooran, Saptak and Andholan and ending last year with a fantastic performance at Super Salt 2018, Mekaal Hasan Band has many goals for 2019. He has moved on to MHB’s fourth album, Mekaal Hasan told Instep.

The fourth album will feature the Indo-Pak line-up and will feature the works of Amir Khusro and will be a qawwali album.

In the meantime, Mekaal Hasan also revealed to Instep that MHB plans to play more shows this year, beginning with Karachi. The line-up of the band will continue to evolve, with Lahore having its own line-up featuring the likes of Sameer Ahmed and Karachi featuring musicians such as Anas Alam Khan and so on.

“I’m setting up my own live shows; my aim is to keep the band active and playing. We’ll start with Karachi and then Islamabad,” said Mekaal. “The plan is to do solo show[s] i in early February in Karachi. Then I’ll be looking at local festivals as they come up so I’ll be working on that with festival organisers.”

In addition to Madam Humera Channa, who plays with MHB whenever she can [since she has her own shows as well], MHB is looking to expand its vocal line-up by introducing other singers. All this means 2019 will be a good year for MHB and as fans, we should be thrilled.
