For its upcoming anthology series, Amazon casts the likes of Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, John Slattery, Dev Patel, Andy Garcia and John Gallagher, Jr.

It seems that the age old truism – if you can’t beat them, join them – is proving true for Hollywood actors, directors, writers and technicians.

In recent years, we’ve seen the likes of Stranger Things, House of Cards, The Crown and Orange is the New Black give network television a run for its money. With Netflix originals proving to be a hit, others have followed suit and it looks like Amazon is also set to create an anthology series with an all-star cast.

According to a report in Variety, Amazon’s upcoming anthology series, titled Modern Love, will have an extensive cast including the likes of Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, John Slattery, Dev Patel, Catherine Keener, Andy Garcia, Cristin Milioti, Brandon Victor Dixon, Olivia Cooke, Andrew Scott, Julia Garner, Shea Whigham, Gary Carr, Sofia Boutella and John Gallagher, Jr.

It is based on the New York Times column and weekly podcast.

According to Variety, Shameless director Emmy Rossum will direct an episode of Modern Love while Tina Fey has also written an episode in the upcoming series.

“Each episode of the half-hour series will explore love in all of its complicated and beautiful forms,” reports Variety further.

John Carney, who will serve as writer, director, executive producer, and show runner said about Modern Love: “It’s like I woke up in the actor candy store. We’ve managed to assemble a dream cast of my favorite actors. It’s a testament to the reach of the original column and of how, now more than ever, love is the only certainty.”

Modern Love column editor Daniel Jones serves as consulting producer on the show. As for Amazon, this is not the only series the streaming service has ordered. They recently unveiled The Romanoffs, a new series from Matthew Weiner, the creator of Mad Men as well as sci-fi anthology series, Electric Dreams, earlier this year.
