After the success of Shaan-e-Pakistan’s past editions, held in New Delhi, Lahore and Karachi, the brains behind the event, Huma Nassr recently announced the official dates of Shaan-e-Pakistan Music Awards at a press conference, held in Lahore. Indian film producer Rakesh Sabharwal was also present at the announcement.

The awards will be held on March 22, 2019 in Lahore and singers from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and UK will participate in it.

Speaking at the event, Rakesh Sabharwal said, “Shaan-e-Pakistan Music Award is unique. We have committed three big singers from India; one of them will be the Wadali Brothers, they haven’t come to Pakistan before. It took me three months to convince Wadali Brothers and finally they agreed.”

He further went on to say that he has been visiting Pakistan for the purpose of Shaan-e-Pakistan Awards for the last three years. “I am a man of showbiz and believe that music is a universal language. We can use this connection between the two countries in our favour; for increasing positivity.”

He continued, “Music has no boundaries and I have seen that here in Pakistan. Whenever I visit, I receive immense love and respect. I would also like to take out a moment to appreciate the fact that Shaan-e-Pakistan Awards welcomes the participation of singers from various other Asian countries.”

Though the ban on Indian content in Pakistan and vice versa has been an ongoing issue for quite some time now, Rakesh Sabharwal thinks otherwise. According to him, many believe that there is a ban on Pakistani films and artists within India. “While the latter is true to some extent, there is no such ban on films. The Indian film organisation that was demanding a ban on Pakistani films does not have much value within the country thus their demands were not met,” said Sabharwal.
