We all crave comfort food at some point. Whether it’s a bad day at work, or you just have the blues. Food is the one thing that can help ease the pain a little bit. If you are feeling a little down in the dumps, here is a little treat for you. This week, You! collaborates with Kausar Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Kitchen Crafts, to bring to you the recipe of Chicken finger strips.

Ingredients

Chicken breast fillet (cut into strips) 1/2 kg

Vegetable oil (for deep frying) 2-3 cups

For the Marinade

Buttermilk (1 cup milk + 2 tbsp white vinegar) 1/2 cup

Eggs 2

Flour 1/2 cup

Salt 1 tsp

Chilli powder 1/4 tsp

Garlic powder 1/2 tsp

Black pepper 3/4 tsp

Baking powder 1 tsp

Method

  • Combine the chicken tenders with all of the marinade ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.
  • Add oil to a large pot or wok and heat over high heat until oil is shimmering.
  • Using tongs, place several chicken tenders in the hot oil without crowding the pan.
  • Cook until golden brown on the bottom side, a few minutes, and then flip and cook until second side is also golden, a few minutes more.
  • Set cooked tenders on baking sheet lined with paper towels to drain.
  • Fry remaining tenders in batches. Serve hot.
