It was a few days ago when actor Maya Ali, who is playing the lead female role opposite Ali Zafar in Ahsan Rahim’s directorial debut, Teefa in Trouble, took to social media to introduce her character ‘Anya’ in the film. “Excited [to] introduce to you ME as ANYA! A go-getter, a problem solver and an all round free spirit!” the actor wrote on her official Instagram handle. This was followed by a poster which stated, “My 1st ever poster for my 1st ever film @teefaintrouble... What a feeling.”
Quite recently, Ali Zafar (Teefa) and Maya Ali (Anya) in the upcoming movie posted a video on Instagram presenting Maya Ali as Anya in Teefa in Trouble. The clip starts off with a description of Anya who originally hails from Lahore but lives in Poland and is a smart, tough and independent 23-year-old girl. From her favourite singers to her summer staples, to her favourite vacation spot, the video shares some interesting facts about Anya.
By the looks of it, Maya Ali’s character seems fun and energetic yet strong. While we usually see stereotypical representation of women in our movies, Anya is certainly a progressive character and is not just an eye-candy in the film.
Aside from Ali Zafar and Maya Ali, Teefa in Trouble features Jawed Sheikh, Faisal Qureshi and industry veterans Mehmood Aslam and Nayyar Ejaz in pivotal roles. The film is all set to release on July 20, 2018.
It also looks as if allegations of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behaviour against one Ali Zafar by multiple women, will not keep him from promoting Teefa in Trouble with style.
