Rani Mukherjee’s upcoming film, Hichki, is all set to release next month. Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma, the upcoming production from Yashraj Films will feature the multiple-award winning actress in the role of Naina Mathur, who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome “that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds”.

The film will tackle myriad of issues including discrimination that is faced by people who suffer through this disease, the power of will and determination and the unsung efforts of dedicated teachers.

In the lead up to the film’s release, its soundtrack has been released and given the variety of singers featured, it has something to offer to every listener.

Featuring a total of six songs and one instrumental, the record contains music by Jasleen Royal with lyrics penned by Jaideep Sahni, Raj Shekhar, David Klyton, Aditya Sharma and Neeraj Rajawat. An amalgamation of various genres, the songs are brought to life by a number of prolific singers such as Harshdeep Kaur, Benny Dayal, David Klyton, Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao.

‘Oye Hichki’, sung by Kaur is about celebrating the spirit of overcoming challenges that life presents at every turn while the song ‘Soul of Hichki’, also sung by Kaur, is a slower, soulful version of ‘Oye Hichki’.

Benny Dayal and David Klyton make an appearance on the OST with ‘Madamji Go Easy’, a playful, hip-hop number with absurd lyrics to boot while Arjit Singh, one of modern Bollywood’s biggest names presently, features on the score with ‘Khol De Kar,‘ which is about realising your true potential.

Shilpa Rao is the voice behind the peppy tune, ‘Phir Kya Hai Gham’ that speaks of inner confidence and self-belief and is most close to the film’s theme. Jasleen Royal is behind the stirring number ‘Teri Daastan’ which is about following your dreams and persevering against all odds.

– Hichki is all set to release in Pakistan on March 23 by Geo Films.
