Pakistan’s fashion industry is not only growing within the country but is touching new heights internationally as well. The recently concluded Fashion Pakistan Week, which opened with a solo show for the first time, introduced some new trends, besides some hits and misses. On an international front, the most recent development is a fashion showcase by the House of Kamiar Rokni and Zonia Anwaar in collaboration with the High Commission of Pakistan in Prague. With the aim to promote Pakistani fashion in Prague, the initiative brings forth the best of Pakistan’s craft.

In a conversation with Somethinghaute.com, the designer Kamiar Rokni shared, “The House of Kamiar Rokni is extremely proud to be representing Pakistani fashion at a show celebrating the 70th anniversary of Pakistan arranged by our embassy here. As a design house we are all about cultural diversity and our inspiration is the whole world so to be in this beautiful city and to see our clothes in a new context is very exciting.”

Aside from Rokni, the fashion presentation also features the work of the relatively younger Zonia Anwaar who is a Lahore based designer.

“In the current global scenario, it’s crucial for us to represent a softer image of Pakistan,” Anwar stated. “I feel it’s a fantastic effort by The Pakistan High Commission in the Czech Republic for giving me an opportunity to represent Pakistani fashion to the western world. I am putting together some traditional embroidery amalgamated with our timeless traditional silhouettes in a contemporary way to give it a fusion vibe. Our handwork and craftsmanship are appreciated all around the world and to have a taste of Pakistan’s ethnicity in modern attire is always a treat at international showcases for the audience.”
