On what would have been Malika-e-Taranum Noor Jahan’s 91st birthday yesterday, Google pays homage to the legendary singer with a Google doodle. In partnership with The Citizen’s Archive of Pakistan, Google has put a link under the doodle, which when clicked opens a whole archive of photos and facts from Noor Jehan’s life. The doodle itself features a caricature of Noor Jehan wearing purple attire with her iconic flower perched on her hair.

Madam Noor Jehan, who was known as the Queen of Melody across the world, was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the latter of which was awarded to her for boosting the morale of the nation with her songs in the 1965 war. Having gained popularity at a young age, in her career of six decades Noor Jehan recorded 10,000 songs.

The star passed away almost 17 years back on 23rd December 2000.  Known for her contribution to the cinema and music industry in Pakistan, there is yet to be someone who can match her prowess.
