The poorly titled Bollywood film starred Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor and took inspiration a little too literally: they lifted scenes and dialogues from the iconic show, word for word.
Therefore it’s exciting to know that there is a spinoff show in the pipeline, titled How I Met Your Father. This will be the third attempt by 20th TV, who made the original show, to produce a spinoff and it seems as though the studio has roped in writer Alison Bennett to write it.
“We’re always on the lookout for fresh, new voices, and Alison’s work on You’re the Worst has been incredible,” said 20th TV President of Creative Affairs Jonathan Davis when Bennett’s deal was announced. “She is completely original, hilariously funny and a big, big talent.”
“It’s one that’s been slowly cooked. If it’s the right idea, the right execution, we’ll take that,” Fox chairman Dana Walden said about the studio’s HIMYM spinoff strategy earlier this week.
