Leader of the music group, Overload, Farhad Humayun has evolved into quite the front-man and has come far as both vocalist and performer. While his Riot Studios in Lahore continue to play host to Levis Live Sessions, Humayun is also working on new music.

First up is a solo single from the drummer/vocalist/producer, which is scheduled to release next month (August 2) and is called ‘Mur Ke Dekho’.

Speaking about the upcoming single which is Humayun’s debut solo single in Urdu, he said in a press statement, “It is about looking forward to life, embracing all the dark adventures it holds, dealing with them with a smile and dropping all the baggage we collect. The future always holds promise.”

‘Mur Ke Dekho’ will be accompanied by a music video that is inspired by the 80s and is directed by Humayun himself. Even bigger news than the single releasing is the confirmation from the singer-songwriter that a brand new album, containing 10 songs, is in the pipeline. In fact, for the last eight months, Humayun has been diligently working on the songs with producer/guitarist Sarmad Ghafoor.

Speaking about the upcoming album, Humayun said, “This is going to be my most definitive work as an artist and songwriter. I’m playing all instruments myself except piano and ethnic instruments. I felt I was so close to these compositions that I wanted to transfer my truest emotions on tape by playing guitar, drums, bass and some keys myself, apart from singing and writing. Sarmad and I have worked closely on lyrics, melodies and arrangements. He’s truly awesome.”

Until the album pops up though, watch out for Farhad Humayun’s upcoming single.
