House of Cards has been all the rage from the day it was first released and we understand why. The plotline, characters and soundtracks are all phenomenal. However, it’s the performances given by lead stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright that have won appraise world over. Spacey has brilliantly portrayed the role of a ruthless US President and has not once failed to deliver in throughout the five seasons of HoC.

Unsurprisingly, Spacey will now be receiving the International Emmy Founders Award, presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

“Kevin Spacey is one of the great multidimensional talents in our industry,” said International Emmy Academy president and CEO Bruce Paisner. “From his acting in many movies and television shows to his successful stewardship of the Old Vic theater in London and his outstanding dealmaking and acting prowess in House of Cards, he’s climbed every mountain there is. We are thrilled that he will be accepting the Founders Award.”

This is indeed an honour for the star because he is one of the few actors to have ever received the award. Previous winners include Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal), who was last year’s International Emmy Founders award winner. Directors Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams, Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner and former Sony CEO Howard Stringer have also been recipients of the coveted award.
