If reports are to be believed, the actor who is currently busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period film Padmavti alongside Ranveer Singh (who recently got a head injury while shooting) and Shahid Kapoor, has been roped in for another big project in India.
According to DNA, Padukone has been finalized to play the protagonist in Badlapur 2, the sequel to 2013 thriller Badlapur that featured Varun Dhawan as the lead. It will be produced by Dinesh Vijan who has cast Padukone in all of his past films.
“A sequel to Badlapur, with a female protagonist and a completely new cast, is being planned,” a source close to the project revealed to DNA. “Dinesh has bounced the idea off to Deepika and she has loved it. It’s a character-driven role, just like Varun’s was in Badlapur. The script isn’t ready yet and once that’s done, the producer will give the actress a full narration and get her dates blocked for the film.”
The first part of the film revolves around the themes of love, loss and revenge. It follows the story of a man whose wife and son were killed by someone. Once he finds out about the culprit, he sets out for revenge. Okay so the plot doesn’t sound very original but since Badlapur was a good film, we’re hoping that the sequel will have some merit.
