Irrfan Khan-Saba Qamar-starrer Hindi Medium, which was scheduled to release on May 12, has been given a new release date. Irrfan Khan-Saba Qamar-starrer Hindi Medium, which was scheduled to release on May 12, has been given a new release date. While many attribute the move as a way of avoiding box office clash with Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sarkar 3, the producers have stated other reasons behind this week long delay in the release.

“After watching the film, we felt we should give an extra week to promotions since it has the potential,” Dinesh Vijain (one of the producers) told Mid Day. Bhushan Kumar of T-series, who is co-producing the film, shares the same view. “We are happy and proud of the final product and feel that this film deserves to be promoted more so that we can reach out to more people.”

However, Hindi Medium may have avoided a clash with Big B’s Sarkar but it will go up against Arjun Kapoor- Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Half Girlfriend that is also coming out on the same day.

Hindi Medium features Khan and Qamar as a middle-class married couple who have one daughter. The film traces their struggle to get their daughter admitted in an English medium school and its impact on their lives. The film takes a close look on how the inability to speak in the English language leads to biased treatment from society.
