Sports films, when done right, can make for excellent cinematic experience. Ron Howard’s 2013 film, Rush, based on the rivalry between Formula 1 drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, remains a brilliant film. From M.S.Dhoni – The Untold Story to Nagesh Kukunoor’s Iqbal to Hollywood’s The Fighter - that fetched Christian Bale an Oscar award - these are films that may have drawn inspiration from reality but ultimately have thrived because these are triumphant stories of human perseverance.

So it is hardly surprising that India’s tennis superstar, Sania Mirza, is in talks over a possible Bollywood film that will be based on her autobiography, Aces Against Odds.

“There are some talks going on, but there’s nothing concrete right now,” she told Al Jazeera in an interview. “I’m a private person, so it is a difficult task for me to open up completely.”

Moving on, Mirza also made an appearance on Koffee with Karan recently where she spoke about, among other things, her soft spot for actors Ranveer Singh and Salman Khan. When quizzed about Mirza’s love for Singh, Deepika Padukone said in a recent interview: “Well, Sania’s husband should be concerned about that statement (laughs).”
