Sounds of Kolachi (SOK) are an interesting case study. They are a unique ensemble band that has managed to sustain itself despite trying times. They like making original music and are always open to experimenting with their sound which is why it should come as no surprise that SOK will be touring the United States with Centre Stage, a tour that has taken many Pakistani names to the US, including Arieb Azhar, Noori, Zeb and Haniya, Ali Gul Pir and Danish Ali.

The band will be going on a 28-day tour in 2017, starting from Washington D.C. where they will be performing at the John F Kennedy Center. They will move on to North Carolina where they will be performing at the arts center. “We will move to Savannah for two days of performance and then to Atlanta for a club gig,” front man Ahsan Bari informed Instep over a brief telephonic conversation. Other locations on the list include Memphis, Boston and New York.

Speaking about what the band plans to bring to the table, Bari said “We will make sure that we introduce original music from Pakistan. Our music will weave around the sounds of the subcontinent amalgamated with other musical styles. We feel that this is a new beginning for SOK as an ensemble and more than that, as an idea.”

The US tour will definitely broaden the horizon for the band as well as introduce their sound to a larger audience.
