Ever since news has come out that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will be released in India without cutting any scenes featuring Fawad Khan, an air of positivity seems to have emerged amid the ongoing tension. Indian films had been prohibited from being screened in Pakistan as a response to the ban proposed by MNS on Pakistani artists working in India, but cinema houses are now considering their decision that might lead to the screening of Indian films in the coming days.

While it is being heard that this decision has already been taken, the news apparently isn’t true according to some of the leading local cinema houses. Given the release of ADHM in India on October 28, the exhibitors are considering the release of the film in Pakistan as well.

According to Mohsin Yaseen, GM Marketing, Cinepax Cinemas, the decision will be taken in the next few days. “We deliberated on this subject,” he told Instep. “It is a very healthy development that ADHM is releasing in India without Fawad Khan’s role being cut. We will meet in the coming days and then decide our course of action.”

When Instep contacted IMGC Media and Marketing Manager, Sabina Islam, to find out if the film will be released in Pakistan, she informed that the news of lifting the ban is true. However she refrained from commenting on the issue, similar to some other cinema owners who are not willing to say anything at the moment. A lot of speculations have been coming up in this regard with no official announcement issued by the stakeholders.

A local publication reported earlier that the ban will be implemented from Tuesday, October 25 and an official announcement will be made by the chairman of Pakistan’s exhibitors association, Zuraiz Lashari. This was followed by a statement from Lashari in another local publication that denies this news, claiming that there is no such press conference in the pipeline. According to him, no decision has been taken yet as they will wait and see how the situation turns out.

While the future of Bollywood films in Pakistan is still unclear, there is a strong possibility that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivay will hit local cinemas as these films have received the NoC from the government.
