Director Anjum Shehzad’s Mah-e-Mir may have been a mixed bag, leaving the new age audience dumbfounded with its extensive use of archaic Urdu language, his latest venture seems anything but old-fashioned. Starring Feroze Khan and Sajal Alyy – the couple that stole many a heart in TV serial Gul-e-Rana – Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai comes across as a fresh, upbeat story about young love.

The 58-second teaser, which released on Monday evening across all social media platforms, sees Sajal, currently riding high on the hype of her Bollywood debut Mom, let go of her domicile, submissive television avatar and emerge as a young, hip, modern day woman, seemingly in love with an equally charming soul, Feroze. Their chemistry is palpable and the breathtaking views of the coastline ensure that cinematography is on point. At the same time, the teaser hints at a tragic twist in this romantic tale – a drowning child, a mentally-disturbed Feroze and a mysterious typewriter signify that it’s not all going to be sugar and spice and everything nice.

The defining feature of the teaser, however, is the background score. The delicate sound of the strings and Adnan Dhool’s soul-stirring voice cast an impression that it’s the kind of romantic movie you had been waiting for local cinema to come up with for a while now. One only hopes that it isn’t yet another unoriginal, clichéd rip-off of global cinematic plotlines as has been the case with a chunk of Pakistani films.
