Doctors in India extracted a piece of LED bulb from the lungs of a seven-year-old girl, who had swallowed it while playing with a toy cell phone, Indian media reported.
Ariba khan was reportedly suffering from cough and fever for a week before the doctors at Bai Jerabai Wadia hospital in Parel discovered presence of an unwanted guest in her right lung.
According to Hindustan Times, a piece of bulb was discovered in an X-ray report of the lungs of the girl, who was then put on antibiotics to stop the infection from spreading into the rest of the body.
The doctors continued with intravenous course of antibiotics and steroids to clear the infection and granulations.
On the third day, another bronchoscopy was performed, when the bulb became visible inside the lung.
Within two minutes the piece of bulb was removed using forceps.
