Under supervision from Chinese engineers, a huge high grid power tower in Hubei province of China was destroyed in a controlled environment.
The tower was several hundred feet tall and collapsed when explosives were blown. The tower was connected to power lines which had now become defunct. Officials were concerned that the outdated power lines over the river could pose a threat to people crossing the river and so its removal became necessary. The video presents a live drone footage of the controlled collapse of the tower.
The tower was brought down in an attempt to ensure safety for locals navigating the river. The grid was first constructed in 1960.
