16-year-old Palestinian boy becomes symbol of Al-Quds protests
Sixteen-year-old Palestinian boy Fawzi al-Juneidi has become the symbol of ongoing protests against US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Al-Quds as Israel’s capital.
HEBRON, West Bank: Sixteen-year-old Palestinian boy Fawzi al-Juneidi has become the symbol of ongoing protests against US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Al-Quds as Israel’s capital.
The teenage boy was detained on Thursday during clashes in the West Bank city of Hebron and dragged away blind-folded by dozens of Israeli soldiers.
Anadolu Agency quoting his uncle Rashad al-Juneidi said that Fawzi al-Juneidi was accidently detained while going to buy things for his family.
He said that his nephew was badly beaten and detained by Israeli soldiers.
Rashad al-Juneidi further said that the teenage boy was supposed to appear before court on Sunday. “However, we were told that his trial was postponed until Monday.”
Reports said that Al-Juneidi was the sole breadwinner of his seven-member family.
“Al-Juneidi had to leave school to work for fulfilling the needs of his family,” his uncle said.
He appealed to the Palestinian authorities and human rights groups to intervene to secure his release.
