KARACHI: The Sindh health department has ignored the World Health Organizations (WHO) guidelines to protect citizens from any incidence of swine flu, which has already claimed 700 lives in neighbouring India.
The WHO had given guidelines to prevent the spread of swine flu which included setting up isolation wards and influenza labs at hospitals, using thermal scanners at airports as well as an awareness campaign for the general public.
Sources have confirmed that none of the guidelines have been followed, even though medical experts believe there is a risk of an incidence of swine flu in Pakistan.
Experts add, that swine flu also known as H1N1, H1N2, H2N1, H3N1, H3N2 can spread from one individual to another and therefore steps to prevent its incidence and containment procedures should a priority.
