Pakistani cricketers injured in Karachi blaze

KARACHI: The fire that erupted in a private hotel in Karachi during the wee hours of Monday, also injured a couple of Pakistani cricketers who were staying there. International cricketer and Pakistani batsman Sohaib Maqsood was also present at the hotel when the fire broke out. 

According to details, spinner Karamat Ali sustained minor injuries while escaping the hotel, which caught fire and claimed the lives of 11 people and injured several. Cricketer Yasim Murtaza jumped from the second floor to the ground, hence suffering from a fracture.

International cricketer and Pakistani batsman Sohaib Maqsood was also staying at the hotel with the cricketers when the hotel caught fire. The cricketers were staying at the hotel since they were taking part in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy.  

The hospital and rescue sources confirmed 11 people dead, saying that most of the victims died from inhaling the smoke and suffocation. The fire broke out at the sixth floor of the hotel, located at Shahra-e-Faisal near Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
