Backlash grows after Marilyn Manson named Slipknot support act

Slipknot has announced a new world tour with Marilyn Manson as a support act, sparking backlash from fans over past abuse allegations against the singer.

Manson, 57, whose real name is Brian Warner, is expected to join Slipknot at London's Wembley Stadium and several South American tour dates.

Metalcore band Hatebreed is also on the bill.

However, thousands of fans are not comfortable with Manson's lineup and have threatened boycott.

One fan wrote, "Would've loved to see this but there's literally nothing you could do to get my cash in Manson's pockets," while another called the announcement "such a disappointment" and said they wouldn't attend.

Some fans defended the pairing, pointing to overlap between the two artists' fanbases and calling Manson a "perfect support act."

Manson has faced numerous abuse allegations in recent years. Actress Evan Rachel Wood, who dated him from 2007 to 2010, accused him in 2021 of having "horrifically abused" and manipulated her, saying she wanted to warn others about "a dangerous man."

Several other women made similar accusations around the same time. Manson has denied all the claims, calling them "horrible distortions of reality" and saying his relationships were consensual.

Wood's allegations were also the focus of the 2022 documentary series Phoenix Rising. Manson later sued Wood and another accuser for defamation, though a judge dismissed some claims, and he settled the case in 2024, agreeing to cover Wood's legal fees.

In more recent developments, Los Angeles prosecutors said last year they would not file criminal charges against Manson following a four-year investigation, citing the statute of limitations and insufficient evidence.
