Apple rolls out a fix for iPhone 18 Pro reboot bug: Key details

Apple is reportedly preparing a software update to resolve an issue that causes the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to reboot spontaneously-a move that commonly comes after a failed Face ID scan causes the phone to freeze and reboot.

Meanwhile, early adopters have voiced concern about Face ID failing to unlock the phone, which in some cases leads to the device freezing and losing touch sensitivity.

The company pushed watchOS 27.0.1 yesterday to address a similar reboot bug plaguing the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. It has been observed that the iPhone Pro Max received an out of the box software update but a new update will likely be numbered iOS 27.0.1 and could resolve these deeper systemic issues.

This year’s Pro models use a reworked Face ID system, relocating a sensitive camera under the display near the clock allowing for a 25% smaller visible Dynamic Island. Moreover, an early teardown of the iPhone Pro shows the camera detached from the rest of the front module from the rest of the front module and connected by three separate cables.
