Car influencer James Wehr dies at 27 in fiery McLaren crash
The horrific accident occurred on Sunday in Irvine, California
James Wehr, co-founder of South OC Cars & Coffee, was killed in a horrific late-night accident in California. He was 27.
As per the Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), the crash occurred around 12:18 a.m. in Irvine, California.
After extinguishing the fire, authorities found two people dead inside a McLaren.
One of the victims has been identified as James, while the identity of the other person has not been publicly disclosed.
“Unfortunately, we have some really heavy news to share with you all,” South OC Cars & Coffee wrote on Instagram. “This morning, just after midnight, we lost our darling son and brother James in a motor accident.”
“We respectfully ask for privacy as a family, as we process this profound loss,” the statement read. “We would appreciate all of your good thoughts and prayers, and for those of you who knew James, thank you for being his friends, his mentors and his peers.”
“Thank you for being his clients and his loved ones,” the post added. “We are grateful for all of you. Please hug your loved ones tightly today. Tell them every day how valuable they are to you. Tell them you love them.”
Authorities believe the driver lost control of the vehicle before striking the edge of the pavement and a tree.
“I was about to go to bed, and then I heard a big like, skrrrr and then a big boom. Me and my friends come out. Ginormous fire,” witness told ABC 7. “The whole car is just gone.”
