Nigel Farage’s family urges him to quit politics amid mounting pressure: What did he say?

Nigel Farage is reportedly facing intense pressure from his family to resign from politics this summer. The 62-year-old said relatives had motivated him to walk away for the first time in his career.

On Saturday, speaking to Robert Peston, Mr Farage admitted that he had “lost his usual quite jolly demeanour” this summer.

He shared remarks, “ It's 34 years since I first stood in a by-election and got involved in politics, and all the way through that my family have always supported me.

“Many of them agree with my politics, one or two take a different view. But they’ve always supported me all the way through until this summer, right until this summer.

“Suddenly, most of my family say, you know, give it up, walk away. And the impact on them is horrific. Even last week, [there was] another horrific round of debanking of people closely related to me.”

Asked in a BBC interview, if he had seriously considered quitting politics, Mr Farage stated: “ No I haven't. I haven't-But when you have got your family begging you to, it is not easy..”

For those unversed, in July Ofcom launched a probe into Sky News after Mr Farage asserted his daughter had been harassed at home by journalists examining his monetary records.

Mr Farage told them when approached by a Sky News reporter at an airport, stating, “ You tell your bosses, you harass my family any more and there will be serious consequences. That is what your organization has done this morning.”

In addition, despite the pressure from his family, Farage, he did not get close to quitting.
