Gemini Live now runs tasks while you talk: Here’s what it can do

Google says 63% of Gemini users already prefer talking over typing. Today's update to Gemini Live is built around that habit, adding agentic features that let a spoken request turn into a finished task, sometimes hours or days later, without the person opening the app again.

The main focus is on Spark, which has now been added to Gemini Live. Rather than having to speak in a specific way to get what you need done, Spark takes an unspecific, unstructured brain dump from you in speech form and turns it into something useful in Docs, Sheets, Drive, and the Web.

Someone talking through ideas while commuting regarding projects would have an outline created in Google Docs by the time they get to work.

Spark also works with jobs that run throughout several days, such as a continually growing grocery list based off of saved recipes.

A second addition, Daily Brief, condenses Gmail and Calendar activity into a spoken summary triggered by asking, "What's my daily brief?" It's aimed at the specific moment before someone has opened their phone for the day, answering "What do I need to know?" without a screen involved at all.

Gemini can also now sort a Gmail inbox hands-free, searching, summarising, starring, archiving, or deleting messages based on spoken requests, like asking whether anything urgent arrived from a child's school.

This new update will also enhance personal intelligence that connects the memory of Gemini throughout past discussions and connected applications such as Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube.

This will allow one to ask questions such as how to find the location of a restaurant visited months back on a holiday or to fetch a recipe discussed previously in a conversation.
