Will another heatwave hit the UK next week? Here’s what the latest forecast says

Britain is reportedly bracing for another wave of scorching temperatures of up to 36C next week triggering health alerts and the risk of new droughts.

According to the Met Office, temperatures will rise over the weekend as heatwave conditions return with the mercury set to reach 36C in parts of East Anglia and South-East England from Thursday.

The agency underlined that several areas could move toward drought in the coming week as half of England is already in drought. The UK has already witnessed two record-breaking heatwaves in May and June which were responsible for more than 2,700 excess deaths.

The latest forecast says the weekend will see a national divide in the weather. The areas of Scotland and Northern Ireland are likely to observe spells of heavy rain.

Temperatures could soar 27C on Friday and as high as 30C on Saturday before reaching into the low 30s in east-England on Sunday.

The Environmental Agency is planning to introduce limitations on the amount of water that can be extracted from natural sources in parts of East Anglia.

The UK, England and Wales have all recorded their sunniest July on record ever while England and Wales saw it as their sunniest calendar month ever.
