Los Angeles Lakers agree one-year deal with Ziaire Williams
Ziaire Williams joins the Lakers after spending last season with the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 10.2 points
The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to sign forward Ziaire Williams to a one-year contract worth $3 million, according to ESPN, citing sources.
The 24-year-old joins the Lakers after spending last season with the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 10.2 points and 2.4 rebounds across 56 games.
His arrival comes during a busy offseason for the Lakers, who have reshaped their squad following the departures of LeBron James and Rui Hachimura in free agency.
The club has already re-signed Austin Reaves and added Walker Kessler, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Collin Sexton, Quentin Grimes and Kevon Looney.
According to ESPN, Williams' signing brings the Lakers' roster to the 15-player limit. However, the franchise is still pursuing free agent forward Jonathan Kuminga and could create space through a sign-and-trade deal with the Atlanta Hawks or by waiving a player.
Williams was selected in the 2021 NBA Draft lottery and spent three seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies before joining the Nets in 2024.
He also attended Sierra Canyon School in California, where he was a teammate of Bronny James, the son of LeBron James and now a Lakers guard.
