Juneteenth 2026: Are banks, USPS, and stores open today? Here is what you need to know
It is intriguing to know that this day is also known as Freedom or Emancipation Day
Americans will have the day off to celebrate the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery on June 19. The holiday is mainly known as Juneteenth National Independence Day when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom.
While it is important to check your local store hours as they might vary depending on location. Consequently, stock markets and most banks are not operating today.
Walmart will operate during normal hours, and while Costco is closed for other federal holidays, it will remain open for Juneteenth.

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq websites confirmed that the stock market will be closed on June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
It is crucial to note that FedEx and UPS will make deliveries and continue operations on June 19. Postal service locations will be closed, and regular USPS mail will not be delivered on Juneteenth. In addition, normal services will resume on Saturday, June 20.
