Is Google Gemini down? Users worldwide report issues with AI chatbot
The Google Gemini disruption did not appear to develop into a full global outage, but reports continued throughout the day
Google Gemini users across the United States and United Kingdom reported widespread issues on Tuesday, with many saying the AI chatbot was returning error messages and failing to load properly.
According to Downdetector, reports of problems began rising sharply at around 6:11 AM ET and 11:11 AM GMT. At one stage, more than 480 users in the US and 440 in the UK had reported issues with the platform.
Users said they were encountering “error 1706” and “error 1099” messages while trying to access Gemini.
Despite the complaints, Google had not officially confirmed an outage. Gemini’s status page continued to state that “all systems are currently operational”.
The disruption did not appear to develop into a full global outage, but reports continued throughout the day.
Gemini is Google’s flagship artificial intelligence chatbot and is integrated into several of the company’s consumer and productivity tools.
Any disruption to the service can affect users relying on the platform for work, research and day-to-day tasks.
