Jeff Bezos admits to 'rough day' after Blue Origin rocket explodes
Jeff Bezos shares his reaction on social media after an explosion erupted on a Blue Origin rocket
Blue Origin has been running a rocket test. Immediately, a massive explosion erupted, leaving behind a giant fireball and glowing embers.
It happened in Cape Canaveral, Florida, during the 'hot fire' test.
Now, the company's head, Jeff Bezos, has reacted to the disaster.
Taking to X, he wrote, "All personnel are accounted for and safe."
Bezos also wrote it's immediately unclear what went wrong.
"It’s too early to know the root cause, but we’re already working to find it."
But he is determined the company will return to flight after the incident has been resolved.
"Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it."
Similarly, the officials have likewise confirmed the incident.
In a post on Facebook, the U.S. Space Force's Space Launch Delta 45 wing said, "A Blue Origin New Glenn rocket experienced an anomaly at approximately 9:00 p.m. during a hotfire test at Space Launch Complex 36."
"Emergency responders are on the scene. All personnel have been accounted for, and there were no injuries/fatalities."
The blast was so dramatic that even rival Elon Musk tweeted in empathy.
"Most unfortunate. Rockets are hard," he wrote on X. In a separate post, Musk commented, "Sorry to see this; I hope you recover quickly."
This is not the first time a setback took place in the New Glenn rocket.
Just months before, the New Glenn rocket was grounded due to a satellite left in a wrong orbit due to engine failure.
