Disney+ and Anne Hathaway deepen bond with big new move
Disney+ and Anne Hathaway already have a long history of collaborating
Disney+ and Anne Hathaway have shared a long working history.
The actress's career – who is now a well-known name in the industry – began at the company.
In the 2001 film The Other Side of Heaven, she made her debut as Jean Sabin.
She found her breakout role as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, also a movie by Disney.
Then, the actress was involved in a series of projects with the company.
The most recent being the hit franchise sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2.
She offered glimpses of strong ties with Disney at the company's last week upfront presentation.
“Like so many of you, I was introduced to Disney as a child, learning how to dream and tell stories."
She continued, “Playing Mia in The Princess Diaries became this magical portal that opened up my whole life, and now with the Devil Wears Prada franchise."
"These two films that have shaped my career the most are at the same wonderful home, and I am so honoured to be a part of the family.”
Anne Hathaway and Disney+ ties just got stronger
Now, the connection between Hathaway and Disney+ became stronger.
Both have begun work on a reboot of Elle Enchanted.
It was a cult classic fairy tale starring Hathaway in 2004.
According to Deadline, Disney+ has tapped her now for executive producing the new show.
Interestingly, the new series will move away from the original romantic fantasy.
Instead, the focus will be on Wednesday-type – a hit Netflix show – storytelling with the basic premise intact.
The work on the show, meanwhile, is in early phase.
