Al Nassr Cristiano Ronaldo nets 100th Saudi Pro League goal in major title push
Ronaldo brought up his century of league goals in the 75th minute when he turned in a low Sadio Mane cross from close range for his 26th goal of the campaign
Cristiano Ronaldo reached a historic milestone on Thursday, scoring his 100th goal in Saudi Arabian football as Al Nassr defeated Al Shabab 4-2.
This landmark strike-his 26th league goal of the season and the 971st of his career helped Al Nassr extend their lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League to five points over rivals Al Hilal.
Portuguese star Joao Felix was instrumental in the win, netting two goals within the first 10 minutes and completing his hat-trick with a late penalty to seal the result.
Al Shahab kept the contest competitive through goals from Yannick Carrasco and Ali Bulayhi but were ultimately outmatched by the clinical finishing of the AI Nassr strike force.
Ronaldo’s landmark goal was set up by Sadio Mane, who delivered a precise near-post cross in the second half to restore AI Nassr’s momentum.
“Ronaldo is always dangerous going forward and we saw that again today,” Al Nassr coach Jorge Jesus said.
“We are fully aware of its importance, and we are dealing with it with complete focus as we know that small details could decide the result.”
He emphasized that focus has already shifted to Monday’s high-stakes derby against Al Hilal, noting that “small details” will decide the fixture that could define the title race.
Attention now turns to Monday’s crucial derby against Al Hilal, a fixture that could prove decisive in the title race.
