Phoenix Suns clinch playoff spot after dominant play-in win over Golden State Warriors
Jalen Green led the way with 36 points, while Devin Booker added 20 as Phoenix produced a strong all-round performance
The Phoenix Suns secured the final Western Conference playoff spot after defeating the Golden State Warriors 111-96 in their play-in clash on Friday.
In the Warriors vs Suns showdown, Jalen Green led the way with 36 points, while Devin Booker added 20 as Phoenix produced a strong all-round performance.
The Suns will now face the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs starting Sunday. The defeat brings an end to Golden State’s season.
Phoenix’s defence limited Stephen Curry to 17 points on 4-of-16 shooting while Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors with 23 points.
The Suns built an early lead and maintained control for much of the game. They led by five at half-time and extended the advantage to 69-53 in the third quarter.
Jordan Goodwin contributed 19 points, nine rebounds and six steals, while tensions flared late on as Booker and Draymond Green were both ejected after receiving two technical fouls.
The victory ensures Phoenix avoid elimination and continue their post-season push, while Golden State’s campaign ends at the play-in stage.
