UFC 325: Saint Denis dominates Dan Hooker in Sydney
UFC: Saint Denis made his strategy clear by repeatedly shooting for takedowns
Benoit Saint Denis delivered a dominant performance at UFC 325, stopping Dan Hooker by TKO in the co-main event Saturday night in Sydney.
The lightweight bout ended at 4:45 of Round 2 at Qudos Bank Arena, where Saint Denis secured the victory.
The win improved Saint Denis’ UFC record and extended his winning streak to four fights.
From the opening bell, Saint Denis made his strategy clear by repeatedly shooting for takedowns. Hooker initially defended well, and also connected with front kicks to the body, but Saint Denis dominated.
The fight shifted in the second round when Saint Denis capitalized on a mistake from Hooker and locked up a choke attempt.
Although Hooker defended Saint Denis adjusted his position and moved into mount.
FRom there, Saint Denis unleashed a sustained barrage of strikes with referee Herb Dean allowed Hooker time to defend and improve position, but he was unable to escape .
Saint Denis entered UFC 325 riding momentum after defeating Kyle Prepolec, Mauricio Ruffy and Beneil Dariush.
His only UFC losses have come against Renato Moicano and Dustin Poirier.
For Hooker, the loss marks his second straight defeat after being submitted by Arman Tsarukyan in November.
