Brigitte Macron cyberbullying verdict: Paris court convicts 10 people
These people were involved in spreading false claims regarding France first lady's gender
A Paris court on Monday has delivered a verdict, convicting ten people who were found guilty of the cyber-harassment of France’s first lady Brigitte Macron.
According to French media, these people were involved in spreading false claims and information regarding her gender, propagating the first lady is a transgender who was born a man,
As per court’s verdict, all the defendants, eight men and two women, will face punishments ranging from taking a class on cyberbullying to 8-month suspended prison sentences.
The judge highly condemned the “particularly degrading, insulting, and malicious” comments slandering Brigitte Macron’s gender identity. The hateful information also linked France President Emmanuel Macron and his wife’s 24-year gap to pedophelia.
The recent court’s ruling strengthens Macron's position as they also pursue a high-profile defamation lawsuit against right-wing influencer Candace Owen, who has also claimed Brigitte’s transgender’s identity.
While speaking on TF1 national television, the first lady asserted that she initiated these legal proceedings to “set an example” in the fight against harassment and cyberbullying.
