Meghan Markle ‘wanted what Kate Middleton had’ after becoming royal, says expert
Meghan Markle had a lot of qualms with Kate Middleton since the very first day she entered into the royal fold
Meghan Markle was allegedly “fixated” on competing with Kate Middleton from the very start of her royal life, a royal commentator has claimed.
According to Express UK, royal expert Kinsey Schofield has alleged that shortly after marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan questioned whether she and her husband could be given grand accommodation at Windsor Castle.
She suggested the request reflected Meghan’s desire for an arrangement that mirrored that of Kate, in an attempt to rival with the now Princess of Wales. “She was fixated on what Kate had and wanted something of similar value,” Schofield claimed.
The expert said that Meghan approached palace officials after her wedding to Harry to explore whether a more “grand” living arrangement could be made available.
“It wasn’t just about housing. It was about status”, said Schofeild.
The claims add to long-running narratives that Meghan struggled to adapt to royal hierarchy and found it difficult to accept that not all roles, within the monarchy are equal.
Windsor Castle, one of the monarch’s primary official residences, has traditionally been reserved for the most senior royals, making the alleged request particularly controversial.
While neither Meghan nor Prince Harry have ever publicly made any statements about housing demands, reports citing palace insiders have suggested that tensions over housing, and status have contributed to the Sussex’s growing frustration with the royal fold.
