Eleven killed in shooting at Australia's Bondi Beach

The shooting at Bondi Beach, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries and prompted shockwaves within the community occurred on Sunday, December 14.

According to the BBC, nine people were killed in a shooting that took place at a Hanukkah event being held at the beach, where at least 1000 people were present.

The recent reports demonstrated that 29 people have been taken to hospital including a child.

In this connection, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the situation in Bondi as “shocking and distressing.’’

The shooting took place in a crowded area of the northern part of Bondi Beach.

The video footage demonstrated a man confronting one of the gunmen, taking the weapon and fighting back.

The attacker is standing underneath a palm tree less than 50m from the small pedestrian bridge, an area seen in verified videos that show two attackers firing guns. One of the gunmen later died after a shootout with police.

Further, the video showed that one pedestrian appeared to be injured, and the policeman immediately arrived behind the attackers and began to fire at them.

New South Wales police have confirmed twelve people are dead, including one man believed to be one of the shooters. The second suspected shooter is in a critical condition.

Reports illustrate that nine civilians are dead, making the recent attack one of the most tragic shootings in this country’s history.

Meanwhile, continuous footage has been emerging from the scene, which is being examined to scrutinize the situation.

Nonetheless, the attack was a turning point, prompting the government to introduce safety control measures. 

Meanwhile, an active police scene is in progress to clear the area of suspected improvised explosive devices.
