King Charles and Queen Camilla held an important get together as the royals look forward to better days after closing a controversial chapter.
The royal family had opened the doors of Windsor Castle to 900 diplomats for a glitzy reception held for a second year in a row. While the event traditionally took place in Buckingham Palace, but the event was held at Windsor Castle first time since 2001.
In the past few weeks, the royals have gone through a significant change after the King took a landmark decision to oust his brother Andrew from the family, stripping him off of all titles including ‘Prince’.
The headlines and Andrew’s antics have not ceased but the royals have been trying to bring attention back to their duties rather than gossip.
In this whole ordeal, Camilla has kept herself in the shadows, not revealing her true feelings openly hence her gesture towards Andrew’s daughter, Eugenie, held deep significance.
During the reception, Camilla opted to wear the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, the headpiece Eugenie had worn for her own wedding in October 2018.
While this was a direct nod to the 35-year-old, it also shows that the support extends to the elder sister, Princess Beatrice as well.
This comes after royal expert Ingrid Seward pointed out that Charles is “determined to embrace his nieces, both Beatrice and Eugenie”.
She suggested to The Sun that the King wants to “bring them into the royal fold in a way where they don’t feel they’re just being gratuitously pulled in, but they’re actually doing something for it”.
Beatrice was recently given a special role for charity Outward Bound and made Deputy Patron. She had joined her uncle Prince Edward who also holds a position with the charity. Meanwhile, Eugenie continues with her role at The King’s Foundation to mentor under the 35 under 35 network.
The gesture from Camilla, who deliberately stays away from family drama among the royals, only strengthens that message from the monarch and his dedication towards his nieces.
