King Charles picks Princess Kate over William for special responsibility
Princess Kate honours King Charles vision with heartwarming gesture
King Charles shares a close bond with his beloved daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, especially after the two royals faced similar ordeals given their cancer diagnosis last year.
Princess Kate has candidly revealed on multiple occasion how her connection with nature has helped in her recovery journey and it is something that Charles also feels strongly about.
However, a former staffer shared that the Princess of Wales has been inspired by her father-in-law which has led her to take on the responsibility of maintaining a garden.
“Kate loves to be outdoors and she’s very into gardening. More so than William,” former royal gardener Jack Stooks told Marie Claire.
He revealed that mum of three would often be “walking around the gardens at Highgrove and admiring Charles’s vision or even his own handiwork”.
The gardener has worked at Highgrove for two decades. He described how much Charles “loves a garden”.
Even after his ascension to the throne, the King remains deeply involved in the maintenance of his Highgrove Gardens, which are now under the supervision of the King’s Foundation.
“Whenever he has spare time, he’s out gardening,” he explained. “He’ll find jobs to do, like weeding areas, removing docks or nettles, or pruning overhanging branches.”
The staffer revealed that Charles is not afraid to get his hands dirty and he knows “exactly what he’s doing” when the public sees him planting trees at engagements.
Princess Kate is “clearly been inspired” by the monarch as she, too, is not afraid to get her hands in the mud.
